There’s something about getting marketers and PR students in the same room that just works.

Last week, AMA Lincoln members and students from UNL’s College of Journalism and Mass Communications (CoJMC) clubs – including the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) – connected for a “Mix & Mingle” event. Tucked away in the Agency Space above the Lincoln Children’s Museum, the networking event delivered good conversations, new faces and a relaxed energy. No agenda. No slides. Just people hanging out.

Students Met the Pros…and Vice Versa

For one evening, the gap between the classroom and a marketing career shrank a little. Students showed up curious. Lincoln’s marketing professionals showed up generous with their time. And somewhere in between the introductions and the inevitable “So, what do you do?” conversations, lasting connections were made.

Why It Matters

Our local marketing community has always been a standout feature of Lincoln. And events like this are a big reason why. When students can walk up to experienced marketers, ask real questions and leave with valuable connections, that’s not just a simple networking event. That’s the pipeline getting built in real time.

It was a great opportunity to connect with engaged students and talk about their future careers in marketing. It was amazing to learn about the variety of experiences they are gaining through PRSSA and UNL.
