SUMMARY:Signature Speaker Series: Managing Career Transitions
DESCRIPTION:Join us and our signature speaker David Bernardino\, CCO & Head of Research + Planning at Ammunition\, to learn about career pivoting.\n\n\nThis is a 100% virtual event but we have several watch parties throughout Lincoln. \nTo register for a watch party\, please sign up using the watch party event: \n– The Foundry \n– Scooters @ 27th & Pine Lake \n– Rock-N-Joe Coffee \n \nManaging Career Transitions – Career Pivoting for Seasoned Marketers \nIt is common for early career professionals to pivot their focus and direction at least once\, but what about the more established marketers? When you’ve created a name and a personal brand for yourself in a certain area of the field\, making a major change in the same industry – or trying something completely different – requires a little more thought. You are in a different stage of life with different responsibilities. A major change (or even a moderate change) holds more risk. \nOur speaker\, David Bernardino will lead a discussion about making mid-career transitions. Based on his own experience going first from CPG to B2B marketing\, and then from the client side to the start-up agency world\, he will walk through his experience dealing with these transitions. Bernardino will highlight tips and techniques that he’s learned during a long career in the marketing world. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nDiscuss how to think about mid-career pivots\nDiscuss ways to approach a mid-career pivot\, including potential resources to aid in the development of your own plan.\n\nSpeaker Bio \nDavid is the Chief Client Officer and Head of Research + Planning at Ammunition\, an Atlanta-based full service advertising agency specializing in demand generation and lead cultivation. In his role\, he leads all business development\, along with helping clients with the development of insights\, strategies\, and plans to grow their businesses. \nPrior to joining Ammunition\, he led Samsung’s home appliance builder marketing team\, developing the marketing strategies and campaigns that introduced that brand to the home building industry. He’s also had prior experience running brands at companies ranging from P&G to Merck. \nDavid is a NKBA “Sales + Marketing Specialist” badge holder and a 2013 Brand Innovator’s “40 Under 40” honoree. He also serves in a wide variety of leadership roles at the NAHB\, the Metropolitan Builders & Contractors Association of New Jersey\, and the American Marketing Association’s New Jersey chapter. SUMMARY:Signature Speaker Series: Leading in a Social World
DESCRIPTION:Join us and our October signature speaker Aaron Templer\, author of Leading in a Social World to learn about creating social capital.\n\n\nOnline ticket sales for in-person tickets end Monday\, October 11\, at 5:00pm. Additional tickets will be available at the door. \nThis is an in-person event with an option to attend virtually. \nLeading in a Social World is an unexpected look at social media through the lens of leadership. Social capital–measurable\, manageable value that’s accessed and shared through social networks–has become an undeniably valuable resource for people and their organizations. But contrary to what many of us marketing people will tell you\, socially connected systems reject marketing. They are communities that need nurturing\, not audiences for conversions. Leading in a Social World encourages anyone who’s using the social web as a way to influence and move people that they need to stop social media marketing and build social capital–a leadership skill–instead. \nJames O’Toole\, a Leadership Excellence Magazine Top 100 Thought Leader and author of The Enlightened Capitalists said this of Leading in a Social World: “This important–and timely–book demonstrates the potential of social media to become a powerful vehicle for creating social capital. It offers original and useful advice for the next generation of leaders in all fields whose platforms will increasingly be digital in the years to come.” \nKey Takeaways \n\nShed biases: When it comes to building committed communities around your brand\, social media marketing data shows suspect results at best\, brand-damaging results at worst. Surprised? You may need to unlearn some social media marketing biases.\nLearn a better way: Learn why some brands are successfully motivating others within social networks (and how they’re doing it).\nElevate your approach: Learn how to use leadership acumen to build communities who give back to you\, your brand\, and your cause.\n\nSpeaker Bio \nAaron Templer is a polymathic marketing firm owner (Three Over Four)\, occasional speaker\, first-time book author (Leading in a Social World)\, and hobby percussionist. He is an American Marketing Association Professional Instructor and Past President of its Professional Chapters Council and Colorado chapter. His marketing firm\, speaking engagements\, teachings and writings are at the intersection of strategy\, creativity\, brand\, influence\, and leadership. Some call him the Gora Dhol Wallah. \nEvent Mask Policy \nMasks are not required but encouraged if you aren’t fully vaccinated yet.

SUMMARY:May SkillSchool: A Crash Course in Leveraging Podcasts
DESCRIPTION:This SkillSchool focuses on leveraging podcasts to serve others and get what you want out of life.\n\n\nThis is a hybrid event: You can attend in-person or via Zoom. \nHave you ever thought to yourself… “we should do a podcast!” You’re definitely not alone. Millions of people just like you have built revenue generating podcasts as standalone lifestyle businesses and client acquisition channels for their existing business. In this session\, Landon will unpack what it takes to build a successful podcast and how to leverage podcasting to serve others and get what you want out of life. \n \nKey Topics \n1. How to leverage your desire for knowledge into relationship capital. \n2. How to generate revenue in less than 90 days from a podcast. \n3. How to develop relationships into revenue by building authority in niche markets. \n \nBio \nLandon started Grindstone\, a Lincoln-based Video Production and Digital Marketing Agency on the floor of his apartment in 2018. He wanted to find a way to help companies promote their products and services beyond the traditional door-to-door sales model. Landon wanted to take the work ethic he developed on his family farm near Exeter\, Nebraska and grow his own successful business. \nTo keep himself sharp\, Landon listens to podcasts and reads books focused on entrepreneurship and personal development. He even hosts his own podcast called Spark to Fire where he interviews other successful business leaders. He’s a firm believer in the mantra: “If you’re not growing\, you’re dying” and applies that mentality to everything he does. \nFun fact: Landon’s impressions are impeccable. Ask him to do anyone and he won’t disappoint. \nThere is limited seating available for this event if planning to attend in person\, so get your tickets as soon as you can.
