Description

The Website and social median mangers oversees the website strategy, social media channels and other digital platforms of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. This position is responsible for ensuring positive customer interactions on those platforms; keeping up with changing digital trends, implementing best practices, and measuring success of those platforms. This is a dynamic, evolving role in which the ideal candidate will be capable of understanding the rapidly evolving digital landscape and developing innovative products and solutions to help the Commission fulfill its mission.

Examples of Work

Essential responsibilities: Manage and create content for agency website and social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, SnapChat). Work with Public Relations and Marketing managers to create timely, engaging, relevant, original website and social media content. Strengthen online and digital media presence by engaging with followers and seeking out new platforms, while developing existing relationships. Perform regular website content updates requests as needed. Proactively research and propose digital technologies that will further the mission of the agency. Perform analysis of metrics, and prepare and present reports on digital engagement and trends. Preparation of digital presentations as needed. Coordinate and assist with livestreaming and broadcasts as needed. Support agency events as needed. Perform related work as required.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in journalism, public relations, communications, advertising, creative writing or related field.  Experience in developing, planning and managing public relations/publicity campaigns, mass media communication activities or public information programs may substitute for the education on a year for year basis.

OTHER: Driver's license is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Working knowledge of marketing and communications principles and practice, online user experience and interface, video, website management, social media and mobile communications. Leadership ability, project management skills, team facilitation, excellent written communication skills, ability to communicate fluently in both conceptual and technical realms, creativity in the development and selection of functional alternatives in the implementation of online projects. Working knowledge of mobile device management, social media, email marketing and mobile marketing. Basic understanding of best practices for print and interactive design. Excellent knowledge of HTML, CSS and WordPress required, as well as proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite products, Final Cut Pro or similar video editing software. Ability to manage relationships, communicate effectively. Ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, early adopter of new technologies and a team-player with a positive attitude. Experience with video production, public relations events and the outdoor pursuits a plus.
