Communications Specialist – University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law
The Communications Specialist plays an integral role in brand development and its implementation at the College of Law. As a primary storyteller, the Communications Specialist is responsible for writing creative content for marketing, social media, web, and other internal and external communications. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Digital Strategy and will work closely with several members of the College’s administration, including the Assistant Dean of External Relations & Strategic Initiatives, the Assistant Dean of Admissions, and the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations & Event Planning. As such, this individual will play a key role in telling the stories of the College of Law and its constituents, creating communications strategies that build our community and promote the incredible work that is done by members of that community every day.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, marketing, public relations, or closely related field plus experience participating in and coordinating team-based communication efforts essential; equivalent education/experience considered. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and other comparable applications essential. Project management experience and excellent communication skills required. Exceptional writing ability essential. Ability to write quickly and accurately necessary. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of content management systems, social media platforms, reporting and analytical tools. Website maintenance skills necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, marketing, public relations, or closely related field plus two years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, advertising, event planning or closely related field. Experience with digital marketing techniques. Demonstrated ability to effectively multitask, delegate and manage assignments. Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. Ability to work on multiple projects with overlapping timelines. Demonstrated ability for absorbing information and organizing it textually and graphically. Ability to work independently.
