Communications Specialist – Nebraska Water Center/University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Serves as the lead public relations and engagement coordinator for the Nebraska Water Center (NWC). Supervises the preparation of all NWC internal and external communications. Elevates the NWC profile through numerous multimedia, events, and partnerships; also coordinates and executes NWC outreach events. Represents the NWC to visitors and at regional activities. Serves as a resource to other units across the NU system. Coordinates programs and collaborates with faculty, their colleagues and their students to grow impacts of research through education events, multimedia and partnerships.
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field plus 3 years of writing experience required. Knowledge and experience in writing, editing and layout necessary. Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
Master’s degree in Journalism or related field with emphasis in news editorial journalism preferred. Experience as a reporter, editor, producer in the commercial print or broadcast journalism profession desirable. Coursework in agricultural topics and water and the natural sciences helpful. Prefer natural resources and agricultural or scientific background. Film and digital photographic skills preferred. Knowledge of training in computer layout software such as InDesign, etc. and PowerPoint and Excel software desirable. Ability to design and maintain Internet web sites helpful.
