Meg Lauerman is the December Marketer of the Month for AMA’s Lincoln Chapter.
Lauerman is director of university communications at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, a position she’s held since 2001. Prior to that, she served full-time as an assistant professor of advertising and in a marketing position, both at UNL.
“This was a wonderful surprise,” Lauerman said of the award. “I am honored.”
At UNL, Lauerman oversees and coordinates all functions of communications, including strategic marketing initiatives, news and issues management, broadcast services, Internet and interactive media, publications and photography. The Omaha native also serves on the chancellor’s staff.
She holds a Ph.D. and a bachelor’s degree from UNL and a master’s degree from Michigan State University.
Prior to joining the staff at UNL, Lauerman served as public affairs media specialist, director of communications, senior producer, producer/director, staff director, visiting assistant professor, and unit director for various companies and educational entities. She began her career as a news editor, reporter, writer and sportscaster for KOLN-TV in Lincoln.
In her spare time, Lauerman serves on the Nebraska Humanities Foundation Board, the United Way Women in Philanthropy Board, and her church council.
Her husband, Jim, is chief executive officer of Bailey Lauerman.
