On July 1, 2021, 6,000+ people gathered in Pioneers Park for an historic evening of ballet under the stars. The Lied Center brought American Ballet Theater to Lincoln, kicking off a tour of iconic venues including Chicago’s Millennium Park and New York City’s Rockefeller Center. The performance was a FREE gift to in-person & live webcast audiences.
Amid renewed calls for racial justice, the Lied Center created an original artistic event drawing on the past and illuminating new voices. The result was “Everytime I Talk About… Black Voices in a Time of Change: Poetry, Art, and Music,” a virtual event celebrating the history of Black poets speaking uneasy truths to the heart of America.
