Ameritas Life Insurance Corp is seeking a Digital Product Owner to drive the business by owning the development and ongoing enhancements of our digital product lines and set the quality standards for delivery. In this position, you will identify, define, analyze, prioritize and refine the requirements and will communicate those requirements to the development team. You will need to prioritize trade-offs, develop user stories and work to drive those user stories throughout the enterprise to business acceptance and technical delivery. The Product Owner will work directly with our various internal and external stakeholders, from the development team staff to senior management to ensure the successful translation of requirements into high-quality output.

This individual will articulate and align the strategic digital vision with tactical initiatives for a specific product to drive outcomes and key KPI's tied directly to business objectives. You will be a driving force behind the alignment of digital priorities and will use your strong interpersonal skills to partner with key stakeholders, manage all business communications and business collaboration activities.

Essential Job Functions

Articulates and translates the product vision into user stories and tactics for a product
Manages scope and defines the minimum viable product for assigned work
Serves as a key link between Marketing, business areas and development teams.
Work with business sponsors to specify and scope features and understand and optimize functionality
Maintains and intimate understanding of product suite, customer workflow, and business and marketing strategy
Communicates the product strategy effectively to key stakeholders and team members
Validates requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria with internal and external stakeholders
Incorporates stakeholder input into product roadmap while effectively negotiating tradeoffs of conflicting priorities based on value to the business and customer
Review, analyze and prioritize Voice of the Customer feedback to incorporate in user stories
Maintains the product priority backlog
Facilitates and encourages conversations between the business and technology to determine the what and how of each feature
Monitors progress and participates in technical release planning
Accountable for making rapid tactical development decisions if they impact functionality or usability
Ensure all user stories and requirements are kept current
Develop partnership relationships with other technical, operational and business teams, maintaining working rapport with others to meet common goals
Manage and provide critical support and coaching to Core Team members as needed
Provide input and support for business analysis; support development of presentation material
Identify auditable processes and ensure all documentation, both internal and Client facing, is current and compliant
Maintains constant communication with the Core Team

5+ years of business experience, preferably in the financial services industry
2+ years of experience as a Product Owner within a relevant field. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in digital experience.
Product Owner Certification preferred
Working knowledge of Agile methodology preferred
Strong data analytics skills required (customer feedback, quantitative data analytics, market trends)
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity
Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization effectively
Ability to apply creative and strategic solutions to solve business challenges and build support across teams
Attention-to-detail and demonstrated ability for strategic thinking, risk identification and mitigation, senior-management communication of risks, issues and alternatives
Solid influencing skills
Sound business and technical acumen
Focused and versatile team player that is comfortable under pressure
Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision both written and verbally
Strong presentation skills
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Travel as needed is minimal (less than 25%) and an ability to thrive in a virtual team is desirable. Candidates who've worked with remote colleagues will have an advantage.
