Jeremy Stanislav, account manager at Swanson Russell and founder of the Beat Breast Cancer Mud Volleyball Tournament, is Marketer of the Month for August.
Stanislav, who also volunteers to serve lunch at Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach, started the tournament in 2008 near his hometown of Prague, Neb. He began to search for a cause.
“My grandma was affected by breast cancer, and I knew it was a cause many people would support,” he said.
His goal the first year was to have 14 teams. Thirty-seven played. This year’s tournament drew a staggering 94 teams. In three years, the tournament has raised nearly $14,000. Stanislav used a Facebook page to market and advertise the 2010 event. Nearly 1,200 people became followers in only three months.
Stanislav, who is getting married Aug. 28, holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
“My marketing philosophy is to conduct complete and thorough research prior to developing any kind of strategy, to ensure that the message being delivered is getting to the right target audience through the proper channels with the proper frequency for the best possible return on investment,” he said.
