Katherine Brockman, marketing specialist at Firespring and a Professional Certified Marketer, is among 23 individuals who comprise AMA-Lincoln’s Board of Directors for 2009-2010.
At Firespring, which provides world-class marketing expertise, Brockman educates small and mid-size businesses on marketing best practices. Before joining Firespring, Brockman worked in marketing and communications roles with Marriott International and Women’s Edition Magazine. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English, French and European Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Upon graduation, she spent a year teaching English in Nice, France.
Following is a capsule look at other board members:
Jennifer Schultz is president-elect. She works for TELCOR, Inc., a healthcare systems and solutions company specializing in providing software products for point-of-care data management, outreach compliance and clinical departments.
Meagan Liesveld is immediate past president. She is the donor relations coordinator for CEDARS Home for Children Foundation, a non-profit organization helping children who have been abused, neglected or homeless achieve safety, stability and enduring family relationships. Her work with CEDARS primarily involves work with the Moves Management philosophy of donor engagement. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing from Northwestern College in Iowa.
Jen Morand is secretary. She is director of corporate sales and marketing for the Lincoln Stars hockey team. In her fourth season with the Stars, Morand is responsible for developing and planning the marketing and promotions activities for the Stars. Prior to joining the Stars, she spent four years working for two local advertising agencies. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Nebraska Wesleyan University.
Krystal Siebrandt is vice president of finance/treasurer. She is an audit manager at HBE Becker Meyer Love LLP, a full-service CPA firm. At HBE, she primarily works with non-profit organizations. She holds a master’s degree in professional accountancy and bachelor’s degree in business administration, both from UNL. She earned her Certified Public Accountant designation in 2006 and her Certified Fraud Examiner designation in 2008.
Jessica McMullen is membership co-chair. She is the marketing and public relations chair for the Governance Institute, a division of National Research Corporation. GI provides resources and education for hospital and health system boards of directors. Before joining NRC, McMullen spent two years on the marketing team at the Lincoln Journal Star, five years working at NET Television and Radio in the development department; three in event management and two specializing in contractual sales. She holds a degree in broadcast journalism from UNL.
Joanne Morgan is membership co-chair. She is a marketing representative at Design Data and has worked for the Lincoln-based software company since December 2003. She holds the PCM designation. She has a bachelor’s degree in communication arts from Ramapo College in New Jersey.
Kiley Thiele is programming chair. She works for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Nebraska.
Dee Reinbold is communications chair. She is the Marketing Manager at Firespring where she works directly with the national sales team and is responsible for coordinating the company’s tradeshows. She holds her bachelors degree in marketing from Morningside College in Sioux City, IA.
Brooke Rogers is chair of the E-newsletter. She works at Swanson Russell, a full-service marketing communications agency with offices in Lincoln and Omaha. At Swanson Russell, Rogers has worked with clients in technology, health care, clothing and turf industries.
Megan McFarlin is sponsorships co-chair. She works for Thought District, a brand strategy and design firm that creates, rebuilds and revitalizes brands regardless of industry. The company’s expertise is in creating answers for the manufacturing industry.
Kelly Medwick is sponsorships co-chair. She works for Learfield Communications where she is an account executive for the news division. Learfield began as a small company nearly 40 years ago and has grown to dozens of employees working in offices and newsrooms throughout the country.
Randy Hawthorne, PCM, is college relations chair. He is director of franchise services at Firespring. Prior to this position, Hawthorne served as the director of marketing where he was responsible for the Digital IMS brand and initiating the MarketPresence solution, a comprehensive branding and marketing program for Digital IMS clients.
Joan Hunt is in charge of meetings. She works at Bailey Lauerman, a marketing/communications firm whose job is to provide clients with a competitive edge.
Nia Nielsen is chair of special interest groups. She recently joined the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation on a contract basis as a marketing specialist. In this role, she focuses on Web development and content management, as well as takes on vendor relations and special projects as needed. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication from UNL.
Beth Bruss is co-chair of the Prism Awards. She is a service lead for Talent Plus, Inc. Prior to her position at Talent Plus, Bruss served as a project manager at Bailey Lauerman. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism (advertising major) from UNL.
Jessica Kinser is co-chair of the Prism Awards. She is an account coordinator at Swanson Russell, serving as the liaison between the clients and the agency. She manages the details of each project, ensuring that deadlines, budgets and technical specifications are met. She keeps clients informed while projects move from concept to completion. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication from UNL.
Clover Frederick is co-chair of Brand Camp. She works for a non-profit marketing network.
Kristin Jakub is co-chair of Brand Camp. She is director of marketing for West Gate Bank, a locally owned community bank with eight locations in Lincoln. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from UNL and is working on a master of arts in marketing, communication and advertising through UNL.
Rob Simon is AMA-Lincoln’s liaison with UNL.
Becky Perrett is a director with AMA-Lincoln. She is director of marketing for Runza® National, which is comprised of Runza® Restaurants, Braeda® Fresh Express Café, and Café on the Square. She holds a master’s degree in advertising, marketing and communication studies (with an emphasis in marketing), and a bachelor’s degree in communication studies, both from UNL.
Katie Tauer is a director with AMA-Lincoln. She is the marketing and business development representative for BVH Architects. Her main objectives are to direct client relations and recognize opportunities for client development. She identifies and manages work flow potential, maximizes the business impact of numerous partnership relationships, and develops the branding and public relations programs. She holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism (with an emphasis in public relations and marketing) from UNL.
Steve Bors is a director with AMA-Lincoln. He is first vice president and marketing operations manager at TierOne Bank. He oversees all corporate marketing operations, including advertising, promotion, market research, product development and community involvement for TierOne Bank and its subsidiary companies. He also is responsible for supporting the strategic development of marketing programs designed to further strengthen the company's brand development efforts. Bors is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy and received an MBA from UNL.
